Before installation, it is necessary to check the appearance and brand of the check valve to ensure that the product meets the installation standards. Strength and sealing tests should be conducted when necessary. Installation can only be carried out after the quality is confirmed to be qualified.
When installing, the height and the direction of water inlet and outlet should comply with the industry installation standards. The internal water flow direction should be consistent with the arrow direction of the return water valve, and the connection parts need to be tight.
The main function of the water meter check valve is to prevent abnormal water flow and stop the water meter from reversing, which may cause inaccurate measurement. Therefore, this product needs to be installed. However, it is necessary to choose products with high sensitivity and qualified quality, and install them in the correct way.
1. Check before installation
Check the appearance: Confirm that the check valve is free from damage, deformation or rust.
Check the brand and specification: Ensure that the product complies with the water meter installation standards, and the model and diameter marked on the valve body match the pipeline.
Test the sealing performance (optional) : If conditions permit, a water pressure test can be conducted to check if the valve is leaking or not closing tightly.
2. Correct installation direction
Arrow marking: The valve body is marked with an arrow indicating the direction of water flow. During installation, the arrow must point towards the direction of water outlet from the water meter (i.e., the water flows from the water meter to the pipeline).
Horizontal or vertical installation:
Horizontal pipeline: The valve disc shaft should be kept horizontal to avoid the influence of gravity on closing.
Vertical pipes: Water flow should pass through the valve from bottom to top and must not be installed in reverse.
3. Connection and fixation
Threaded connection: Wrap the threads with PTFE tape or sealant. When tightening, avoid excessive force to prevent the valve body from cracking.
Flange connection: Align the flange plates, place the sealing gasket properly, and tighten the bolts symmetrically.
Installation location: It is recommended to install it close to the water outlet end of the water meter, without leaving overly long pipes in the middle to reduce the impact of water hammer.
4. Inspection after installation
Valve opening test: Slowly open the water supply valve, observe whether the check valve opens and closes automatically, and confirm that there is no backflow, abnormal noise or leakage.
Regular maintenance: After long-term use, check if the valve disc is stuck and clean impurities.
Precautions
Check valves must not be omitted: to prevent water meters from reversing, which could lead to measurement errors or pipeline pollution.
Choose reliable quality products: Inferior valves are prone to malfunction. It is recommended to use copper or stainless steel materials.
Reverse installation is strictly prohibited: otherwise, it will completely fail and water will not be able to pass through.
